Attended "How To Adopt" seminar and it opened our eyes to international adoption
August 2006
Decided to adopt from China
Worked on completing initial application which included: individual statements and history, getting forms for police check and fingerprinting, answering questionnaires about considerations in adoption, and signed medical consent forms
August 18 th- Fingerprint form sent to RCMP and Criminal Record Check handed-in.
August 25 th – Received adoption package from Children’s Bridge and started gathering our information for the “paper chase”
September 2006
September 14th - Received a passing grade on the Fingerprint, Interpol, and Criminal Record Check
September 18th - Shipped package to social worker
September 24th - Social worker called, first meeting set for Oct 5th
October 2006
October 5th - We had our first home study interview
October 10th - Decided on a girl's name - Kylee
October 21st - 2ndhome study visit
November 2006
November 3rd - Paul's individual visit with social worker
November 11th - Attended the Adoption Council of Ontario Resource Exchange
November 18th - Attended an Adoption Panel put on by Children's Bridge
November 23rd - Lisa's individual visit with the social worker
December 2006
December 21st - Final home study visit
January 2007
January 7th- Received our home study by email for editing
January 8th - Found out China would be a minimum 2 year wait for a referral once our dossier arrived in China. We were devastated. However, we were told about Vietnam and we got thinking about switching to Vietnam.
January 10th - Talked with our social worker to get her thoughts and contacted the Vietnam contact at Children's Bridge
January 11th - Decided to adopt from Vietnam. Got all the forms and packages emailed to us and filled them out.
January 17th - Meet with social worker to receive our completed home study.
January 18th - Sent our dossier to Children's Bridge
January 19th - Our dossier arrived at Children's Bridge and home study was sent off to the Ministry for approval (expecting a 8-12 week wait) and translation of our dossier began.
February 2007
February 15th - Home study was approved from the Ministry
February 26th - Dossier sent to Vietnam
March 2007
March 1st - First TwinRx shot
March 24th & 25th - Adopt Talk seminar
March 27th - Children's Bridge tells us to start immigration paperwork immediately
March 30th - Children's Bridge sends out it's first identified child referral this week!
April 2007
April 3rd - Second TwinRx Shot
April 13th - Mailed completed Immigration Paperwork\
